I’ve worked with severe low back and hip patients for many years.  During that time, I’ve developed my unique treatment protocols and treatment methods to help my patients get their quality of life back through natural and non-invasive methods.

It’s true that most of my patients come to me after having failed attempts everywhere else that they have been.  Failed steroid injections, failed neck or back surgery, and failed hip replacement surgery are daily topics of conversation in my clinic.

Why have surgery in the first place if it can be avoided?  Why chance having a surgery that could cause an infection, paralysis, or death?  Or what’s even worse than death?  When the surgery doesn’t work and causes more pain.  When you’re dead, you don’t feel the pain, right?

Many of my patients tell me that they would rather have died from complications of surgery rather than be dealing with the pain and suffering since their surgery.  It doesn’t make sense to me.  We are in the modern era.  There has to be a better way.

Here is a common conversation my hip pain patients have with me on a regular basis when we first meet:  “My surgeon did some x-rays and an MRI and told me that my hip was bone on bone and had to be replaced.  I had the hip replacement and my pain is the same or worse.  Now the Drs. are telling me that my pain must be from a pinched nerve in my low back.”

I’m embarrassed to say it but we are all human.  Approximately 7 years ago, I was working out and doing some heavy squats.  The weight was too much and I felt a twinge in my low back.  I didn’t have any low back pain so I went on as usual.

In the following months, I developed horrific pain in my left hip.  Every step hurt.  The pain made me develop a limp and I couldn’t do much of anything.  I love playing sports and doing physical activity but I couldn’t do the things I love for a period of months.

The pain was so specific in the hip that I would have sworn that I had a hip problem.  I eventually went to St. Louis, Missouri to see a leading specialist.  The specialist told me that I had bursitis in my hip.

I came back to Arkansas still unable to do anything and limping with hip pain during the day and having hip pain at night.  One day, I was in my clinic and decided to do a “maintenance” treatment on one of my disc rehydration machines.

I will occasionally get on one of my disc rehydration machines for routine maintenance of my spinal joints and disc spaces.  Remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.  Why let your disc dehydrate when you can keep it healthier by doing non-invasive and natural prevention?

After that one treatment, I didn’t have hip pain for the next 3 days!  I couldn’t believe it.  I’ve always explained to my patients that you can go to 100 different doctors and get 100 different opinions.

Working with so many failed hip replacement patients should have taught me a thing or two.  You would think that would be the case.  However, I did not have any low back pain.  ALL of the pain was in my hip.

The specialist was wrong!  I did not have a hip problem at all.  I had a pinched nerve in my low back that didn’t cause any back pain at all.  However, it did turn my life upside down for months with horrific left hip pain.

I felt foolish for a long time since I help so many people with “hip” pain.  Why didn’t I recognize that my hip pain was coming from a pinched nerve in my low back?  You would think that I would know better.

In the end, I’m thankful that I was able to get help.  I went through my treatment protocol and got rid of my hip pain and was able to get back to mountain biking and playing a lot of competitive tennis.  Tennis is a passion of mine and I will play for hours on end.

It felt so good to get back to doing the things that make me happy.  I didn’t go get any injections or have a surgery.  I did something natural and non-invasive that completely got rid of my pain.

I would say that for the vast majority of people, I have natural and safe alternatives to help with their low back or hip pain.  The reality is that every single nerve that comes out of the low back goes into the buttocks and hips.

If you have a pinched nerve in your back that is causing pain into one or both of your buttocks, hips, or legs, you owe it to yourself to come see me to see if I can help you get your life back on track.

Health is Happiness,

Dr. Keith Currie
