Lab Based Clinical Nutrition

Dr. Keith Currie, D.C. is currently working towards becoming a board certified DABCI (Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Internists). This certification requires a 300 hour post doctorate course that includes seminars around the country. It is a decision that Dr. Currie made to further his knowledge and level of expertise in helping people become healthier.  Those who have had difficulty in doing so through traditional and conventional methods.  Of course, Dr. Currie appreciates it when a patient comes to him who recognizes the importance of prevention and wellness.

In pursuit of his DABCI certification, Dr. Currie has been attending seminars over the past 3 years. Recently he attended a Hepatic (liver) and Renal (kidney) Health Seminar as well as a seminar about Cancers and Neoplasms.  The exciting part is he is able to bring what he learns directly to his clinic to help his patients!

My clinic is a Lab Based Clinical Nutrition Clinic.  I look to identify health challenges through utilizing conventional medical studies such as bloodwork, hormone testing, food sensitivity testing, stool testing, and more.  Using the results of those tests, I will provide recommendations to help you become as healthy as possible through natural and nutritional methods.  I will give you my opinion as to what I believe is the best for a natural approach to better health based off of your lab studies.

I also believe that it is important to understand that the model I follow is different than traditional and conventional healthcare.  Traditional lab values are what the vast majority of physicians are going to look at to determine if a patient is healthy or sick.  It is my opinion that those values are too loose and by following those numbers many people are in the process of getting sick and don’t even know it.  I believe that by the time a person’s lab values go out of range by conventional and “traditional” standards, that person could have been in the process of becoming unwell and unhealthy over many years or even decades.

I practice Functional Medicine.  So, when I analyze and interpret lab studies, I use what are called “functional” ranges.  Functional values are narrower and are considered by many to be healthier guidelines.  It is my goal to help you to get as close to functional ranges so you can be as healthy as possible.

It is important to realize and understand that I recommend natural approaches for my patients.  All disease is inflammation driven.  By identifying markers of inflammation on the labs, we can zero in on the cause of inflammation and get to the very roots of health.  By working to keep the body in a decreased state of inflammation is to prevent disease and sickness while at the same time promoting health and wellness.
